Liu Xiang Smashed China's hope for Olympic 110m hurdles medal

18 Aug 2008

Athens's 110 metres hurdles champion pulled out of his heat today limping off the track of the Bird's Nest Stadium.

This has been controversial, as some claims he's faking his injury, as if he's beaten by Cuba’s Dayron Robles, the whole world will see China's superstar failure.

It's said Liu himself fear losing in Beijing 2008 as too much money sponsor deals is at stake, and wasn't up to everyone's expectation of winning the Gold medal again.

Somehow, whatever the reasons or injures, the whole China's nation's sadden as their only dreams of a track medals drifted away.

Rumors are gamblers suffered severe loses from Macao and China's underground betting rings, as the odds for him finishing 1st in his heat was seducing at 3 to 1.
